Mention a boat harbor and most people envision a simple wharf area, not a place of elegance. But when Architects Pacific, Inc. helped redesign the Manele Bay Small Boat Harbor, the resulting area was so functional -- and yet so graceful – that it now hosts waterfront weddings.

Key Design Features
As the marine entry point for ferries and commercial and recreational vessels, Manele Bay Small Boat Harbor is particularly important to the island of Lanai. The harbor and inter-island ferry terminals serve as the island’s circulatory system – providing the pathway for ocean-going transportation, commerce and leisure activities for residents and resort guests. Architects Pacific, Inc. designed the Harbor Master Building, Comfort Station, and the Terminal Waiting Area all with a series of neat, sea-green rooftops. The terminal Waiting Area incorporated a pointed veranda-style crown as the harbor’s focal point. The design and color scheme compliment Manele Bay’s clean, picturesque surroundings without disturbing its natural beauty.

Features
For Architects Pacific, Inc. a well-planned design is about look and functionality. As a result, the design includes a harbor agent office to support day-to-day operations. Visitors, vehicles and vessels on trailers flow seamlessly through the harbor. Multi-use parking stalls accommodate vehicles as well as boat trailers. ADA improvements and paved access roads make this well-planned site both useful and safe. A new ferry shelter runs adjacent to the boarding area, supplying comfortable, shaded seating for daily commuters. The upgraded comfort station is a welcoming area and resting place for travelers.
