Keahole Wastewater Treatment Plant

Location:

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

This new facility was planned and designed to replace an existing package plant serving the Kona International Airport. The completed project serves as a 130,000-gallon per day (GPD), R-1 wastewater reclamation facility that helped contribute toward the expansion of the airport. Due to the scarcity of water in the region, the plant also provides proper treatment to enable reclamation for irrigation. The firm designed for construction the control, generator, and blower buildings.  The remainder of the utility structures were also designed and given architectural characteristics similar to the buildings in the plant.
