API Design Brings Hale Aloha from outdated to updated

From outdated to updated.  Hale Aloha, the iconic dormitory towers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa has emerged from a multi-million dollar renovation to improve its infrastructure and update the interior.  Hale Aloha was built in the early 70’s during a simpler time.  The challenge of bringing plumbing, ventilation, and electrical power up to present codes and needs were an enormous by necessary undertaking in both design and construction. There are miles of additional wires, pipes, and ducts in these towers compared to when these buildings were new!  In addition, many new design goals such as privacy, disability access, safety were also incorporated into the new design.  The emotional wellbeing this renovation brings to the student staying in the dorms now just can’t compare to what they would have experience prior to the renovations.  For API, Hale Aloha has been a long and rewarding relationship, we were also involved in the full exterior restoration for the entire complex, this was over a decade ago.
